Day 6 of Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO)

Day 6 of Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO)

Today is a Monday and surprisingly I don't feel the Monday Blues. The feeling is weird because last month after the Chinese New Year, many of us were saying the next holidays will be in May. No more holidays in March and April....as if we can't wait for the next holidays...

But suddenly this morning, I started to miss my work life. I miss going to work, meeting my colleagues and go to my class to meet my fellow students. Come to think about it, today is just Day 6... come on!

Anyway, I managed to set up a virtual tutorial session with my degree students just now using the CourseNetworking ClassCast-BigBlueButton features. Glad that I can still continue my teaching work at home during the MCO period. I am so happy to see my students participate in the tutorial activities as if we were having a face-to-face session (better than F2F actually).
Just hope the MCO will end soon, containment of the coronavirus can be successful and everyone can go back to their normal life. We must stay positive and continue to do what we can despite the damages and restrictions caused by Covid-19.

Day 5 of Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO)

Day 5 of Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO)

A lot has changed since we started to stay home under the MCO. The most shocking news yesterday was the 4 new death cases announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH), making the cumulative death of Covid-19 in Malaysia to hit 8. Despite more than a hundred patients have been discharged, there are still many being treated in isolation and in the intensive care unit (ICU) as reported.

Every day I received SMS from the government to stay at home, maintain good hygiene and request for the Tabligh to surrender for a medical check. Some stubborn people still out there and yet to report to the hospital. These are the people who are causing us to stay at home, economy standstill and more seriously, putting everyone in contact at risk! The worse is when I read about news of these people keeping secret of their participation at the gathering and causing the entire hospital to close down for disinfection. This kind of person is so selfish. Religion and moral doesn't teach us to tell lie and cause harm to others. I personally classify them as a criminal during the pandemic time. Heavy prosecution is a MUST!

So far, the government is trying their very best to contain the virus. All the front liners are doing a great job to protect us all. Even the army has been deployed early this morning to assist the police. The situation is not what some people have been sharing on Whatsapp and social media. Everyone is trying their best to help to save our country. We encounter the officers at the morning market. There are very polite asking everyone to quickly buy what is needed and go home. They were controlling the entrance and exit so that everyone can maintain a distance. I see law and order carried out effectively here. So please stop forwarding news that doesn't come from the officials and you don't even know the origin source. We have enough trouble, don't create more issues by spreading fake news!

Even our favorite McDonald's responding to the government MCO with maximum precautions taken. Well done, McDonald's.
Customers will have to queue outside the restaurant and temperature has to be taken before allowed to enter
The kiosks were being sanitized after every order.
Dedicated markings on the floor for customers to wait for their order.
McD staffs @ Taman Sri Gombak, keep up the good work!
As of now, all my friends and family are doing fine and trying to make full use of the time given at home with love ones. Since we just started the MCO a few days ago, we should continue to monitor our health, just in case we have exposed to any contacts at work before 18th March.

Day 3 of Malaysia Movement Order Control (MOC)

Day 3 of Malaysia Movement Order Control (MOC)

Today is the third day of 'Movement Order Control (MOV)' implemented by the Malaysian government to minimize the possibilities of the Covid-19 pandemic spread. Many parts of the world have been doing the same such as lockdown, canceling events, stop schools and universities, travel ban and more. The situation seems to be getting worse without any positive sign, other than the beginning of human testing for vaccines.

I do not know how to express my feeling now but it is definitely not good. After following the news of what happens in China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Iran, and Italy, I have never imagined a situation like this can happen in Malaysia. Watching the news from other countries is totally different than seeing our home country appearing in the news related to this coronavirus.

How I wish this is just a dream, a bad one and I can wake up immediately. While I was going through my phone gallery last night, I saw some pictures of our Christmas party back in December 2010, then New Year Eve gathering with some close friends, and many pictures of the Chinese New Year celebration. Come to think about it, it was just a few months back, we were all living in a normal life until now.

As much as I want to stay positive and optimistic, it is so hard to do so when everything around us is changing. However, we need to tell ourselves there is hope. I hope we all can help to educate everyone we know about the importance of MOV. Whether you are an educator or not, this is the time to use your communication skills, critical thinking, and rational mindset to help save our world.

While our country is trying very hard to protect and save the people, many still don't care and ignore the MOV. I wonder what are they thinking and why they do not have the rationale to see the danger of this virus. It is so difficult to understand the situation now or perhaps, they think all the news out there is fake?

Do not take for granted what we have not. Do not create more problems when you are not even capable of solving any problems. Selfishness will only make others suffer at a time like this.

Please STAY AT HOME if you are a human with a brain to think! Think about those who need to work day and night to save your life if you are infected!!! THINK!!!
