What People Say This Week: Instagram Co-Founders RESIGNED

What People Say This Week?
This is what people talks about this week and I think we all have a lot to say about it too. Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger have resigned from the Facebook-owned company.

But why?
Instagram CEO Systrom and Krieger said they want to explore their "curiosity and creativity again". In a statement by Systrom, he said that after eight years at Instagram and six years with the Facebook team, “building new things requires that we step back, understand what inspires us and match that with what the world needs; that’s what we plan to do.”

So, what say Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg?
He had learnt a lot from working with Systrom and Krieger for the past six years and was “looking forward to seeing what they build next”.

Some Facts:

  • Instagram is a popular social media site that has been growing rapidly since Facebook acquisition in 2012 for $1bn.
  • Systrom and Krieger are not the first to quit under Facebook-owned businesses this year. WhatsApp chief executive and co-founder Jan Koum, quit earlier this year. Brian Acton and Mr Koum co-founded WhatsApp in 2009, before selling it to Facebook in 2014 for $19bn. The reason being Koum had clashed with parent company Facebook over WhatsApp's strategy. He objected to Facebook attempts to use WhatsApp's personal data and weaken its encryption standards.

Choesay Conclusion
It is easy to begin a relationship but maintaining it is toughest. Innovators are filled with creativity. They see things from all different directions. It is not uncommon that disagreement and differences in views exists when creative people gets together. As such, we can see the reason for Systrom and Krieger to quit is due of growing tensions with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg over the direction in which the company is moving.

There is a Chinese proverb that says "一山不容二虎 (One Mountain Cannot Contain Two Tigers)". Meaning, in an area, there cannot be two very strong personality people leading. Just like in a mountain, there will only be one king, one tiger.

What say you?

Beware! Check The Source of References in Your Assignment

Students like to use the Internet to the source of reading materials and information for their coursework assignments. It is fine to make use of the technology available to assist with your studies but you need to be very careful of the source you are using.

I find that many students like to use ukessays.com as their reference for the written assignments, especially for business-related subjects. First of all, do you know what is this website for? It is a service provider, providing the below services:

Now, I would like to ask you a "common sense" question: Can you cite this website as a source of reference for your assignment?

Also check the source before citing or adopting information from the source. I always recommend students to begin with course-related textbooks or journals. Published textbooks and journals will give you all the proper information you need to write your assignment. You should only go to the Internet when you need additional information. It cannot be your primary source of information to complete your assignment.

Getty Images Personality Quiz - Personality Test Using Images

Many organisation use personality tests to assess the attribute of candidates as part of the interview process. Some use the test as self-assessment or reflection. Others may use the test to find a match. Whatever is the purpose, personality is something that worth to find out. There are many personality test out there which requires a person to answers various lengthy questions, which the process can be quite boring.

As such, I find that Visual DNA offers a free personality test that can be quite interesting - integrating Getty Images (visual) to run the test.

Fly to Hong Kong by Cathay Dragon

We booked the flight to Hong Kong through Cathay Pacific website but it was a Cathay Dragon that we boarded. The last time I fly with Cathay was three years ago and I think at that time, Cathay Dragon was known as Dragonair. It seems like they have rebranded Dragonair into Cathay Dragon and make it more identical to Cathay Pacific.
For a return flight from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong during the Easter Holidays weekend that only cost me RM708 net, it is more that what I can expect. The staffs are very friendly and the seats was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The entertainment system was good with some new movies and shows. Not bad at all for the meals too.
Breakfast
Opps, turbulence...
Dinner
San Miguel Beer, a must have when flying to Hong Kong. I wonder if they have Blue Girl Beer?
